DAY 1: January 28 | Getting Back to Our Roots

League Office | Louisville, KY

The credit union movement began with a simple idea – that people could achieve a better standard of living for themselves and others by pooling their savings and making loans to neighbors and co-workers. It is very important that, as emerging credit union leaders, we take a moment to reflect on why credit unions exist and how they've evolved over the years.  We will learn statistics on Kentucky's credit unions, hear from a Board Director, and get an up-close and personal story of leadership development from a credit union CEO.

Day one also includes presentations from:

  • April Ales, League Engagement
  • Craig Bilotta, NCUA Examiner
  • TruStage Representative

DAY 5: July 28 (Tentative) | Political Advocacy

Kentucky State Capital | Frankfort, KY

While the Kentucky Credit Union League delivers the credit union message to Frankfort and Washington D.C., the grassroots efforts of credit unions in the community are just as necessary.  Educating lawmakers about the credit union difference and how the movement is helping their constituents is a critical part of our strategy of removing barriers.  Credit union leaders should take every opportunity to reach out to legislators and actively advocate on behalf of the movement.

On this day of the Emerging Leaders Program, participants will spend the day at the Kentucky State Capital hearing from legislative leadership and learning more about the legislative process.
