Kentucky Recognition Awards

Each year, your League hosts an Awards Banquet to recognize the achievements of individuals, credit unions, and chapters.  Your League sponsors several different awards programs to recognize these achievements.

Steve Brody Outstanding Volunteer Award

The purpose of the Steve Brody Outstanding Volunteer Award is to recognize the outstanding accomplishments, time and effort in support and promotion of the credit union idea put forth by volunteers in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

The recipient of the Steve Brody Outstanding Volunteer Award will be announced at the Kentucky Credit Union League's Annual Meeting Awards Banquet in October.

ELIGIBILITY
The nominee must be:
  1. A volunteer of a League-affiliated credit union at the time of their nomination, and;
  2. Must have held a volunteer role within a Kentucky credit union for at least five years at the time of nomination.
Paid credit union CEO or staff, as well as employees of the Kentucky Credit Union League and its subsidiaries, are not eligible.

NOMINATION PROCEDURES
Any volunteer or professional of a League-affiliated credit union may nominate any volunteer, provided the volunteer is with a League-affiliated credit union. The person making the nomination and the nominee need not be affiliated with the same credit union. Nominations may be made without regard to chapter boundaries.

To make a nomination for the Steve Brody Outstanding Volunteer Award, complete the Nomination Form with as much background data as can be obtained. Email additional pages if necessary.

JUDGING
A special committee, appointed by the Chair of the League Board, shall judge the nominees for the Steve Brody Outstanding Volunteer Award and make selection based on the following criteria:

I. 
Outstanding Accomplishments for Credit Union - Recognizes dedication and commitment as a volunteer with the nominee's own credit union. This could include, for example: 
  1. Success in the development and expansion of member services to members of his/her own credit union.
  2. Efforts and success in maintaining and/or improving the financial fitness of his/her own credit union.
  3. Unselfish devotion to his/her duty as a volunteer.

II. Outstanding Accomplishments for the Credit Union Movement - Recognizes outstanding contributions to other credit unions, the chapter, state, national and/or international level.

  1. Contributions to other credit unions could be giving assistance, advice or counsel to help improve the services available to that other credit union's members.
  2. On the chapter level, this could be assuming a major leadership role in the chapter; or exceptional efforts expended on behalf of the chapter.
  3. On the state level, this could be assuming a major leadership role in the League, the Kentucky Corporate Federal Credit Union or the Kentucky Credit Union Political Action Committees.
  4. On the national or international level, this could be assuming a leadership role in the Credit Union National Association, Credit Union Executives Society, or other affiliated or nationally recognized organizations; or making outstanding contributions to the organized credit union movement.

III. Outstanding Personal Accomplishments
Recognizes outstanding personal contributions to the credit union movement. This could be a significant publishing accomplishment; exceptional public service, either elected, appointed or volunteer, to state government, community or civic organizations; or significant professional development.

Frank Moore Outstanding Professional Award

The purpose of the Frank Moore Outstanding Professional Award is to recognize the outstanding accomplishments, time and effort in support and promotion of the credit union idea put forth by the credit union professionals in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. The recipient of the Frank Moore Outstanding Professional Award will be announced at the Kentucky Credit Union League's Annual Meeting Banquet in October.

ELIGIBILITY
The nominee must be:
  1. A paid employee of a League-affiliated credit union at the time of their nomination, and
  2. Must have at least five years' experience in Kentucky at the time of nomination.
  3. Must also have been involved in volunteer activities NOT RELATED TO THE CREDIT UNION WHERE EMPLOYED.
Employees of the Kentucky Credit Union League and its subsidiaries are not eligible.

NOMINATION PROCEDURES
Any volunteer or professional of a League-affiliated credit union may nominate any professional, provided the professional is with a League-affiliated credit union. Nominations may be made without regard to chapter boundaries. To make a nomination for the Frank Moore Outstanding Professional Award, complete the Nomination Form with as much background data as can be obtained. Attach additional pages if necessary.

Return the Nomination Form NO LATER THAN SEPTEMBER 15, 2017.

JUDGING
A special committee, appointed by the Chair of the League Board, shall judge the nominees for the Frank Moore Outstanding Professional Award and make selection based on the following criteria:

I. Outstanding Accomplishments for Credit Union
  1. Recognizes leadership, integrity and commitment as a professional with the nominee's own credit union. This could include, for example:
  2. Exceptional success in the development and expansion of member services to members of his/her own credit union.
  3. Extraordinary efforts and success in maintaining and/or improving the financial fitness of his/her own credit union.
  4. Demonstrated ability to achieve effective and efficient results in the areas of management, supervision, staff and volunteer teamwork and motivation.
II. Outstanding Accomplishments for the Credit Union System
  1. Recognizes outstanding contributions to other credit unions, the chapter, state, national and/or international level.
  2. Contributions to other credit unions could be giving assistance, advice or counsel to help improve the services available to that other credit union's members
  3. On the chapter level, this could be assuming a major leadership role in the chapter; or exceptional efforts expended on behalf of the chapter.

Richard Zimmerman Outstanding Young Credit Union Leader Memorial Award

The Richard Zimmerman Outstanding Young Credit Union Leader Memorial Award is presented to recognize the accomplishments of young people who have made significant contributions to the support and promotion of the credit union idea. The recipient of the Award will be announced at the Kentucky Credit Union League's Annual Meeting Banquet in October.

ELIGIBILITY
The nominee must be:
  1. Under age 35 as of date award is to be announced.
  2. A professional staff person or volunteer of a League-affiliated credit union at the time of nomination; and;
  3. Must have at least two years' experience in Kentucky at the time of nomination.
Employees of the Kentucky Credit Union League and its subsidiaries are not eligible.

NOMINATION PROCEDURES
Any official or employee of a League-affiliated credit union may nominate any professional or volunteer of a League-affiliated credit union. Nominations of another may be made without regard to chapter boundaries. To make a nomination for the Richard Zimmerman Outstanding Young Credit Union Leader Memorial Award, complete the Nomination Form with as much background data as can be obtained. Recognizes a significant personal contribution to the credit union movement. This could be extraordinary public service, elected, appointed or volunteer, to state government, community or civic organizations; or significant professional development.

Wayne R. Woodward Philosophy in Action Award

The Wayne R. Woodward Philosophy in Action Award was established to recognize an individual, group of individuals, or organization that by act or deed, above and beyond the norm, personifies the credit union philosophy of "People Helping People."

If awarded, the recipient or recipients will be announced at the Kentucky Credit Union League's Annual Meeting Banquet.

ELIGIBILITY
Eligible nominees would include:
  1. An Individual acting alone. For example, this could be a credit union volunteer, a CEO or an employee.
  2. A group of individuals acting together. For example, this could be a group of employees or a group of volunteers.
  3. An organization that has done an extraordinary job of putting the credit union philosophy into action.
Employees of the Kentucky Credit Union League and its subsidiaries are not eligible.

NOMINATING PROCEDURES
Any official or employee of a League-affiliated credit union may submit a nomination. Nominations may be made without regard to chapter boundaries.

To make a nomination for the Wayne R. Woodward Philosophy In Action Award, complete the Nomination Form or submit a written nomination stating the individual, individuals or organization nominated and the reason you feel the award is deserved.

JUDGING
The Executive Committee of the Kentucky Credit Union League shall judge the nominees for theWayne R. Woodward Philosophy In Action Award and make selection based on the following criteria:

A.  Performance of an act or deed demonstrating their commitment to the practical application of the “People Helping People” philosophy of the credit union movement;
B.  The act or deed must have been above and beyond the normal activities associated with their position;
C.  The act or deed may have been performed within the credit union community, within thelocal community or, even on a wider scale.

Chapter Attendance Award

The Chapter Attendance Award was established to give recognition to chapters that each year reach out to the greatest number of members within their chapter area. To make sure the large chapters do not dominate, the award goes to the chapter with the highest percentage of eligible credit unions within the chapter area to be consistently represented at the chapter’s meetings over a twelve-month period from September through August.

The chapter selected will be recognized at the League’s Annual Meeting banquet.

AWARD CRITERIA
In determining attendance at chapter meetings, consider ONLY persons attending meetings who represent:

1.    The main office or branch office of a Kentucky League-affiliated credit union located within the chapter’s boundaries; and

2.    The branch office of an out-of-state credit union located within the chapter’s boundaries, provided the credit union is a dues-paying member of the league in the state where the main office is located.

ENTRY PROCEDURES
To enter your chapter in the Attendance Award competition:

1.    Download, complete, and save the Entry Form on your chapter’s attendance figures from September 1, 2016 through August 31, 2017.
